This is being reintroduced in order to amend the duty pistol purchase from Glock 17 to Glock 45.\nIn 2012, the department purchased the current issued Glock Pistols which are Generation 4, Glock Model 22, .40 caliber pistols. After 11 years of use, the current duty pistols are now requiring increased levels of armorer maintenance. Springs, pins and other parts are prone to early replacement for the Glock 22 due to utilization of the .40 caliber round. Additionally, the trigger retention pin on the Glock 22 is known to work its way out of position when the pistol is repeatedly fired. This issue has been encountered on several pistols over the last 11 years. This issue has been corrected with the Glock 5th Generation Pistols which fire the 9mm round. The 9mm round has become the preferred duty round for law enforcement use. The 9mm has less recoil when fired, allowing for faster and more accurate follow on shots. This reduced recoil also decreases wear and tear on the pistol when firing it. The 9mm round is also less expensive than the .40 caliber round. The current issued Glock 22 firearms would be traded in to our law enforcement vendor, reducing the purchase price of the Glock 17 to $179.00 per pistol. Staff spoke with representatives from Glock and learned that they will be phasing out the Glock 17 in the next few years. There is no major reason for them discontinuing the model, other than how they have moved the product forward into the Glock 45, with the interchangeable parts.\n\nFor 120 Glock 45’s, the total purchase price is $21,480.00 after buy back/trade in\nWeapon mounted lights have become an industry standard in law enforcement. Most law enforcement agencies have begun issuing pistol mounted lights for officer safety. In recent years our probationary officers are returning from the police academies advising they are in the minority when it comes to not being issued weapon mounted lights. This is apparent in low light training where the non-dominate hand is occupied with holding a light. The current price for the tactical lights is $149.00 per light.\n\nFor 120 TLR-1HL Tactical LED Lights, the total purchase price is $17,880.00\n\nSafariland 7360 holsters are needed to carry the new pistols on an officer’s duty belt. The holster is the correct model for the Gen 5 Glocks.
