This Ordinance proposes to amend the UHC to outline performance standards for those cooling systems. \r\nAnalysis: This Ordinance would add the following provisions to the existing section of the UHC related to required cooling systems: \r\n\r\nCooling Systems Must be Functional: Required cooling facilities must be maintained in good working order and operated as necessary to provide adequate cooling to habitable rooms. \r\n\r\nTemperature Threshold: When the outdoor temperature is 85°F or higher, the permanent cooling system must maintain an indoor temperature at least 15°F cooler than the outdoor temperature. \r\n\r\nTemperature Measurements: Temperature measurements may be taken at a point approximately three feet above the floor in a habitable room. If temperature measurements show that a system is not operational or fails to provide the required temperature reduction, it will be considered not properly operative.\r\n\r\nTemporary/Portable Cooling Devices: Consistent with existing UHC standards, non-permanent cooling devices cannot be used a substitute for permanent cooling facilities. However, such devices may be used to supplement a permanent system to assist in reducing indoor temperatures. \r\n\r\nThese proposed cooling system performance standards are similar to those already established for heating systems. For example, the UHC requires that every dwelling unit be provided with heating facilities capable of maintaining a room temperature of 68°F at a point of three feet above the floor in all habitable rooms. \r\n\r\nFiscal Impact: NA\r\n\r\nKey Dates: This Ordinance would take effect five days after publication by title and general summary.","MatterEXText2":"Julia Coulloudon","MatterEXText3":null,"MatterEXText4":null,"MatterEXText5":null,"MatterEXText6":null,"MatterEXText7":null,"MatterEXText8":null,"MatterEXText9":null,"MatterEXText10":null,"MatterEXText11":null,"MatterEXDate1":null,"MatterEXDate2":null,"MatterEXDate3":null,"MatterEXDate4":null,"MatterEXDate5":null,"MatterEXDate6":null,"MatterEXDate7":null,"MatterEXDate8":null,"MatterEXDate9":null,"MatterEXDate10":null,"MatterAgiloftId":0,"MatterReference":"27","MatterRestrictViewViaWeb":false,"MatterReports":[]}
